Hello Sorachi sensei, in volume 19, there was this compilation of an interview with Oonishi san, speaking about Gintama you said you intented to draw the “Ninja arc”, “The great Kabuki cho war arc” “A story about Otose’s past” “the Sakamoto and Mutsu’s arc” and “Kagura’s brother arc”. How much time really pass since you have only a conceptual idea of the story and the time you decide to draw it? This is a thing that I really want to know before the end!

Thanks for buying Gintama volume 66. To be honest I totally forgot about all that, but looking back I have to say that I have been quite diligent to esecute all the promised episodes. By the way the story about Otose’s past,was about granny’s stupid son coming back to Kabuki cho and rising a riot,but thinking about it, it was better for her not having kids, so i changed the story with her husband and combined it with the arc about Kabuki cho great war. And the ninja’s arc!! I only had some ideas about Zenzou and Sacchan here and there that then I showed in a different way and then smashed them all in a super serious arc “the shogun assasination” one. To tell the truth the one supposed to die was Zenzou, and Sacchan is some way had to endure it all and keep to stay alive. Thinking about the Shogun assasination arc, I understood that it was impossible to turn back to the old Gintama way before ending thinking about it , so i started to push things in a proper way. Starting this volume the final arc will begin, but inside me the final arc was already decided when i started to draw the Shogun assasination arc.

Hello Sorachi sensei, there is something that worries me, so I wrote you this letter. When Gintama started you said that Kamui cutting off Umibozu’s arm was part of an old Yato tradition about killing the own parents. But in the volume 65 the scene wasn’t nothing like that, why?

Answer

Kamui didn’t declated “I am gonna kill my parents!” but he still went on and tried to do it, So there is no difference. Umibozu telling this sad story wasn’t really detailed ,cause he is not such person. All the mistakes made by his son, were all caused by their own mistakes, that were part of the yato’s old customs, so he just thrown a kill the parents one.

Hello Sorachi sensei!! Congratuations for the Gintama’s live action!! Sorachi sensei what character in the Hero Yoshihiko do you like the most?? I really love Mereb!!

Answer

I actually watched Yoshihiko cause it was a work of Fukuda director with Jirou Saito in it. So I watched it, And this time Jirous san will be in the live action too, but it just looks like some big joke

Hello Sorachi sensei!! Do you know the famous anime Osamatsu san? I love both Osomatsu san and Gintama. Do you know that lately both of them are directed by the same director Fujita Youichi? By the way what do you think about Osomatsu san?

I am not good to clap my hands to other people success, I am the kind of guy to think Fujika make a mistake or please fall! Even now I still wish that, but then if I am the one to make a mistake I babble something like “But look, i really like it that way…”

All the things about Utsuro and the altana is so hard to get. I am a little supid so could you explain it to me please? I really don’t get it.

Answer

The Altana is the energy of planets, the one that is on earth is called the “Dragon’s vein” and this energy flows inside planets ‘ grounds like a stream. Other that than, the energy goes out through holes, called “dragon’s holes”. similar to the fengshui, the lands upon those holes prospered and a lot of mansions and such were built. In the Gintama’s world those places were of course blessed with the grace of prosperity thanks the Altana’s energy. But here, humans that obtained that strong energy, were called mutants, and even if rare they started to come to existence. The immortal Utsuro was one of them. But that caused Utsuro to be persecuted by the others around him, cause it didn’t matter how many times they tried to kill him he would never die. That created contrasted feelings in him, with time this became pain, and in order to escape from this pain he created various personalities inside him. And he locked his true self inside his heart. So the ones that humans kept to make suffer wasn’t Utsuro but different personalities. Then he started to massacre humans for revenge. But that cause an other personality to come to live in order to stop those ones, and that was Gintoki and the other’s teacher Yoshida Shoyo, but even as Yoshida Shoyo he was still seen as an outcast from humans, so he was fated to suffer, because of all this pain, Utsuro that was locked deep inside his heart began to kill all the other personalities and Shoyo, so that this endless pain could be over. But to end himself he has to put an end to the earth, and to do this he has to provoke a huge war.

Hello sensei. I have a question for you, I don’t get quite well what relations there is between the Tendoshuu and the liberation army. I have a bad inderstanding, so could you explain it to me in a easy way?

Answer

First of all what is called Tendoshu is an organizzation that has the duty to preserve the altana. In short they hold in their hands the monopoly of all planet’s energy (the altana). They quite control everyone’s lives. It’s like with things like oil and natural gas, that are needed to support everyones live styles, and only one part of the organizzation holds them. That’s why in a situation where is not clear who the leader is in the Tendoshu, Utsuro was able to use as he liked the Altana, and make it gone out of control. When things on planets went wrong people didn’t know the real reasons and they blamed the Tendoshuu that with their leadership had no right to act as they wanted. So they created an organization to snatch the Altana from Tendoshuu’s hands. So , having the support of all the universe, other countries began to join them, creating a military alliance called the Altana liberation army. They started search here and there for Tendoshuu and tear apart their power, in the end being the Earth, the Tendoshu’s stronghold they started to attack it.
